The blue damselfly is a common species found through out the uk ,the nymphs live in ponds ,lakes ,ditches aswell as slow flowing rivers and streams ,they can spend up to 2 years as an aquatic nymph before transforming into a damsel fly depending on temperature and food availability ,the damselfly nymphs is a predator feeding on daphnia ,bloodworm,midge larvae and other small insects and worms ,there is usually enough natural food even in a small pond too sustain them ,unlike its larger relatives the dragonflys ,these nymphs arent a danger too small fish and tadpoles due to there much smaller size ,they can be seen in there adult form from april to october.
